OK, Everyone, PLEASE send me news!!!!

BHEA will be having their annual planning meeting on Saturday, February 13th, 11 a.m. at

Eagles Ride Equine Center, 3463 Elk Creek Rd., Piedmont.

Potluck will be first followed by the meeting. We would love to have your input as far as what type

of shows / events people would like.

We will need volunteers for the shows! Hosting shows is quite a bit of work (and expense), Please consider volunteering.

For a show to run smoothly we need:

Secretary - usually for the day of the show, as "most" entries are taken prior to the show by whoever is holding the show.

Judge -

Scribe - to assist the judge

Runner - to take score sheets to the Secretary.

Gate person - to keep people getting in and out of the arenas, help hand out ribbons, ect.

On March 8, 2014 the Black Hills Equestrian Association lost a pioneer and ardent supporter when Grayce Larson passed away. Grayce was a long time secretary of both the BHEA and the Hart Ranch Horse Trials. She will be missed by all!

The Hunter/Jumper show at the CSF is now conflicting with the Powder Basin Horse Trials resulting in several members being gone for that date.  Shelly invited the club to utilize their Saturday evening, July 21st date to have some jumping classes.  A motion was made and seconded to have an evening show with just hunter classes beginning at 6 pm.  Motion passed.  The Horsin’ Around Club will look into having an English Show on the Aug 25th date at the CSF.

Old Business:
The Hunter Jumper Show was well attended by riders and audience.  It was well organized except for those working and trying to ride as well.  The class list will be worked over to improve breaks for course changes and the for the flow of the show.  It was suggested that the show be broken down into divisions to include flat and jumping classes for a division and prizes be given for the division winner and ribbons for each of the classes.  The in-hand classes will most likely be dropped for lack of interest.  It was suggested to include warm-up jumping classes again for next year.  It was also suggested that the jump crew duties be shared among all club members.
The Hunter Pace at Alice Allen’s was a great success including a beautiful day, good participation and wonderful host facilities.  Alice, Patty and Sue all volunteered to host it at their locations next year.
The dressage schooling show will be offered at Linda Rabe’s in June. Weather permitting there will be clinics all winter.  Patty offered to have an indoor spring clinic at RiverVale Farm.
